Fun facts about Marianne ...
- If I hadn't gone to law school, I would have become a professional violinist.
- I was a trial lawyer for 14 years, 11 of them practicing with Philip Hirschkop, the legendary lawyer who won Loving v. Virginia, the landmark SCOTUS case that eradicated state bans against interracial marriage.
- I was a violinist in "Beat Street," the first hip-hop movie ever made and produced by Harry Belafonte. You can spot me (maybe) in the orchestra scenes.Â
- In high school (I went to the Bronx High School of Science), I was a big club kid at places like Danceteria, and to this day you can count on me to hit the dance floor, including at 6 a.m. Daybreaker events.Â
- I clerked at preeminent civil rights entities including the NAACP Legal Defense & Educational Fund, the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, and the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, Criminal Section, where I worked on the Rodney King civil rights prosecution.Â
